Entire Arsenal football team heading to Dubai next week
Arsenal will arrive in Dubai next week for training camp as part of their winter break.
The first team will arrive on February 7, stay here for a couple of days and then return on February 11.
The choice of Dubai makes a lot of sense, given that Emirates Airline is a major sponsor of the club.
Mikel Arteta is said to be using the training camp to bring the squad together in a warmer climate. It’s all part of preparations for their next match against Newcastle United on February 16.
“As we prepare for several key fixtures, we are looking forward to a change of routine with some warm-weather training," Arteta said.
"Dubai is a fantastic place and the football facilities there are first class. It will do us good to experience a change of environment before we enter a crucial part of the season.”
Arsenal might not be the only team to take advantage of the Middle East’s warmer climate soon. Speaking of Newcastle, the club is supposedly in final talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund on a takeover deal.
The deal – reportedly worth almost US$450 – would see the country take a controlling interest in the club. The chances of that agreement are now “high” according to one source to the BBC.
