TAG Heuer Autavia bronze edition arrives in the UAE
Last year was really about only one thing for TAG Heuer: the 50th year celebration of its iconic Monaco chronograph.
However, in December of 2019 it quietly announced it would be expanding its range of Autavia sports watches to include a brand new material: bronze. And today - what with the celebrations of 2019 a thing of the past - TAG Heuer finally unveiled two new Autavias.
Both editions sport a bronze case, which instantly add to the already rugged aesthetics of the Autavia. One of the reasons why bronze is such an interesting material on a watch, is that each case will naturally age and create a unique patina. Give it a few years, and no one bronze Autavia model will look the same as another.
“The Autavia in bronze is an ideal choice for explorers who want their watch to live with them and show off their unique and adventurous lifestyle,” TAG Heuer said in its launch statement.
The 42mm watches are powered by TAG Heuer's Calibre 5 movement, and come in either Fume green or brown dials. Both have the series' signature bidirectional rotating ceramic bezel in either black or brown.
As to be expected, the brown model comes with a leather strap while the green one comes with a green one.
When the collection was first introduced back in the 1960s, TAG Heuer positioned them as timekeepers for both the automobile and the aviation industry. In a playful nod to that, a tyre and a propellor have been stamped into the titanium caseback.
