Disney+ could arrive in the UAE as early as March 24
US entertainment behemoth Disney said Tuesday it would start rolling out its Disney+ streaming service to further countries on March 24.
This comes from a press release, that while doesn’t namedrop the UAE does state Disney+ is expanding into Europe, the Middle East and Africa over the coming months. That means it could come to the UAE earlier than previously expected.
Disney jumped into the hotly-contested streaming marketplace last November and secured more than 10 million subscribers in just one week of going live in the US, Canada and the Netherlands. Since then, it has launched in the likes of Australia, New Zealand and Puerto Rico.
The reason for its popularity is Disney’s broad catalogue of kid-friendly films, in addition to the popular Marvel comic books and "Star Wars" franchises that differentiate its content from those for its rivals.
It has also priced its services well below that of competitors. When Disney+ arrives in the region it will cost around US$7 (AED25).
