Lexus shows off new vehicles designed for travel on the moon
Lexus has unveiled the design of a new lunar vehicle, meant to help future moon residents.
The concept – which carries a single rider – is called Zero Gravity, and inspired by the brand’s Lexus Electrified vision.
After being asked to participate in The Lunar Design portfolio, Lexus created a series of Moon-friendly vehicles that could be used by humans on the moon. While other entries and artists were asked to contribute, only Lexus thought about what we would drive on the moon.
Lexus released drawings of seven different lunar vehicles, created by five designers from Toyota and Lexus’ Advanced Design Studio, and "a full lineup of space vehicles ready to tackle the lunar landscape," resulted from this project.
The singe-rider Zero Gravity was inspired by the LF-30 concept electric vehicle. According to Lexus, the vehicle uses Magnetic Levitation technology to traverse the Moon’s low-gravity environment and a steering column that connects the rider in a similar way to reins on horseback.
In addition, Lexus has said the new car would also work in space .
