The UAE is about to launch a new five-year tourist visa
If you're a frequent tourist visitor to the United States then you would know how convienient their five and 10 year tourst visas are. Taking a cue from the popular tourist destinations, now, the UAE is also set to make things super easy for visitors with the launch if its new five year visa for tourists as well.
The UAE on Monday announced a change to the country's tourist visa system with its first multi-entry five-year visa.
In a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE's Prime Minister and Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, said the visa had been approved at the UAE Cabinet's first meeting of the year.
Sheikh Mohammed said the visa would allow tourists multiple entries into the country over five years, without saying if there will be a visa application fee.
Currently, tourists can visit the UAE with a free multiple entry visa for up to 90 days, from the date of entry.
Sheikh Mohammed said the move aimed to establish the UAE as a "major global tourism destination".
Considering the number of international tourists to Dubai and Abu Dhabi rose to 15.88 million in the first nine months of last year, up from 15.26 million during the same period in 2018, this can only be a good thing for the tourism industry in the country.
While the Cabinet has just approved this new visa, we don't have a date yet for its implementation. However, if we had to guess, we predict it to become a reality sometime before the start of Expo 2020. But don't take our word for it just yet.
