Russell Crowe will play famous chef Marco Pierre White in new biopic
For those not in the know, Marco Pierre White has three Michelin stars to his name. What makes his feat even more extraordinary is that he was the first British chef to be awarded the coveted star and was also the youngest to achieve said goal as well, at the age of 32.
While he no longer holds the record of the youngest chef to win a Michelin star, White has been big on the TV show circuit as the former host of Hell's Kitchen in the early 2000s.
He's now getting his own Hollywood movie - written by A-lister Russel Crowe, who will also direct and star in the film.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Pierre White said: “I have just signed the deal. Russell has written the script, Russell’s company is producing it, Russell is directing it and Russell is playing the third or fourth Marco.
“When they do a movie on your life, you don’t just have one Marco – I am nearly 60. If there was anyone in Hollywood to play me, it would have to be Russell.”
Rumour has it that Michael Fassbender will play the chef in his younger years in the movie as well as Russell Crowe.
What remains to be seen is what exactly the movie will cover. White in the past has said that women were too emotional to be in the kitchen and not strong enough to carry heavy pans.
In an interview with the Irish Independent, the TV presenter and restaurateur said: “The real positive with men is that men can absorb pressure better, that’s the main difference, because they are not as emotional and they don’t take things personally."
He also had a major falling out with a young Gordon Ramsay in his early career years. In his memoir, White Lies, Marco Pierre White claims he dramatically "broke" Ramsay, who used to work for him at Harvey's restaurant in Wandsworth, south London, and make him 'sob'.
After all his Michelin success, White has refused Michelin inspectors permission to visit his latest restaurant in Singapore.
If anything, this all reads like the perfect action packed Hollywood film for the masses. The only question to figure out now is its release date.
