Sorry, no Victoria’s Secret show this year
Victoria’s Secret parent company – L Brands – has said it is cancelling its 2019 show.
The annual extravaganza involves not just scantily clad models, but A-list celebrities and music acts.
"We think it's important to evolve the marketing of Victoria's Secret," said Stuart B. Burgdoerfer, chief financial officer and executive vice president of L Brands, to analysts on Thursday. “There will be more to come as that continues to get evaluated."
The big budget lingerie show has become a major date in fashion calenders, bringing together some of the world’s biggest supermodels, lingerie models and Victoria’s Secret’s own ‘Angels’.
Over the years, stars such as Eva Herzigova, Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevigne has walked the catwalk, alongside famous names such as Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks and Alessandra Ambrosio.
The company did not say why it was cancelling the show; however it has received widespread criticism over the last few years. In 2018, Victoria’s Secret received huge backlash over comments made by its then Chief Marketing Officer about including trans women and plus-sized models.
