Aston Martin DBX is a US$190,000 luxury SUV
Aston Martin has unveiled its first ever SUV. The DBX will hopefully extend the brand’s appeal beyond sports car fans.
Aston Martin now joins a long list of sports car brands, including Lamborghini and Bentley, to release an SUV into the world.
"I can't emphasize enough how incredibly exciting and significant DBX is for Aston Martin," CEO Andy Palmer said in a statement. "Through its development alone, this beautiful SUV has already taken the company into new territories and in inspiring directions."
The design of the DBX was put into the hands of a female advisory board, made-up of female Aston martin owners.
"They've been brought in to the process of design really far in advance to make sure that the car, not just from a design standpoint but from functionality, size and space perspectives, works for, not just men but women, as well," said Laura Schwab, president of Aston America of the Americas.
According to Aston, the design of the armrests, glove compartment and various control systems came from the female advisory board.
Prices for the DBX start at around US$190,000 – around US$40,000 less than Aston Martin’s least expensive model, the Vantage.
