Hello Moto! Motorola brings back everyone's favourite 'old' flip phone in new $1,500 avatar

It's been 15 long years since Motorola first debuted its famous flip phone - "Razr" to rave reviews and excellent sales. Anyone remember Paris Hilton's famous hot pink phone advert? Considering it sold over 130 million units after its introduction in 2004 you've definitely heard of it.
Now, the phone is making a comeback with Motorola bring back the old design but with a new twist. The phone will have the same old-school flip design but instead of having a key pad when you flip it open, it will have a foldable plastic display that works as a single screen.
Unlike Samsung's fold phone that had to be recalled and then relaunched after a folding-screen issue, the Razr will have a free “24-hour turnaround service” if the display fails.
“With the new Razr we had to rethink how to engineer a phone,” said Glenn Schultz, the firm’s head of product development to the BBC.
“Our zero-gap hinge allowed us to bring to market a device that folds completely in half. Many didn’t believe we could do it, but let me tell you, it's fun to work on something that everyone thinks is impossible.”
With a hefty $1,500 price tag, the new Motorola Razr has a lot of interesting features and is priced lower than other foldable smartphones.
It comes with a high-resolution 6.2 inch OLED display, a selfie camera, 6GB RAM, 128 GB of storage space, and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 from 2018. The phone will also have a working smaller 2.7-inch screen on the outer flap to display notifications. It will also have a fingerprint reader, four-speaker system and USB-C port.
The drawbacks of the new Motorola phone however is that there's only one camera. So the phone has no telephoto or wide-angle capability in the mch newer and more popular Android models.
The company hopes the Razr will help bring back sales like the phone first did 15 years ago with some serious 2000s nostalgia packaged with a 2020 upgrade. Will it happen though? Only time will tell. The new Razr will launch in the US in January 2020.
