World’s first floating police station will open in Dubai
Dubai is a city of firsts.
Invariably one of the most jaw-dropping parts of Dubai is its impressive and modern police force, driving around in Maseratis where other countries use Ford Focuses. Now the Dubai Police is set to become even more progressive, with the world’s first floating police station.
Situated on The World Islands archipelago, the station will float on the surface of the sea. It is a transformed ‘floating seahorse villa’ on the Island, taking design cues from Dubai’s most futuristic stations.
The floating station is modelled after an autonomous police station in City Walk, where members of the public can pay fines and report incidents without the presence of an officer.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and police chief Abdullah Al Marri were shown a model of the structure at the Gitex Technology exhibition on Wednesday (October 10). The station will help residents of the blossoming The World Islands feel safe, as well as report crimes and traffic issues.

The station is slated to sit somewhere in the middle of the enormous The World Islands, being set near one of the developed islands.
The World Islands is similar to the Palm projects throughout the Emirate, a collection of luxurious manmade islands. The World is made up of a series of small islands placed in such a way as to look like the surface of the Earth from above. Each island is named after a country, with the Lebanon Island currently being the most developed with a beach club and selection of private villas.
It is expected that the collection of islands will continue to be developed, leading to a growing population and therefore the need for a police presence such as this.
