The new new Joker images show his gradual descent to madness
Warner Bros., the studio behind the upcoming Joker film has just released some new images of the hotly-anticipated origin tale. The photos show Arhur Fleck's gradual descent into becoming the Joker.
The Joker has had numerous different takes and actors, from Heath Ledger to Jared Leto. One thing all the variations share in common is a lack of an origin story, instead opting the shroud the Clown Prince of Crime in mystery. Todd Phillips' take on the film however finally confronts the past of the villain and gives us a dramatic showcase of failed comedian turned insane criminal.
The film follows the journey of failed stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck, dealing with constant social ridicule and his own personal issues. It shows Fleck become a figure for other social outcasts to latch onto and he eventually becomes the figurehead for crime in 1970s Gotham. Rooted far more in reality than other DC Joker stories, which had the origin as the clown falling in some green mysterious goo, Fleck's Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix is very human.
The images released show stills from the trailer, as well as new photos.
