The former Nintendo America president is now a lecturer at Cornell University
It’s been more than six months since Reggie Fils-Aimé stepped down as President of Nintendo of America. He’s now set his sights to teach at the very university he once attended.
We’ve all had that one super-cool lecturer that inspired us to go to those 9am starts, perhaps even the kind of lecturer that gave out pirate-themed candy in seminars. But how about telling everyone that your lecturer is the former President of Nintendo of America?
As if students of the Ivy League University Cornell didn’t have enough to brag about, Reggie Fils-Aimé is now set to be a lecturer at the prestigious institution.
Fils-Aimé, otherwise known as the Regginator, was a 1983 Cornell graduate and is now coming back to be the leader-in-residence with his first lecture in October 2019.
This position serves the school’s leadership programme, it aids in critical thinking, business behaviour and skills and other demands that a business leader must meet.
According to Cornell his first lecture will:
“It will share principles for you to master so you can cultivate your own leadership capability, The principles are applicable to any situation, including now while you are a student or in your future endeavours.”
Leaders-in-Residence go to the campus once each semester to meet one-on-one with students, lead small group discussions, and facilitate a larger workshop. All of this is centred around leadership, what Cornell calls "conscious capitalism”, and service.
The Regginator took to Twitter to share the exciting news.
Regginator is going back to school! @CornellDyson just announced that I will be their inaugural Leader in Residence. Looking forward to teaching and mentoring during this upcoming academic year. Great way for me to give back to @Cornell and @CALS.— Reggie Fils-Aime (@Reggie) August 29, 2019
Maintaining the comedic attitude that made him so loved, he also shared a tweet warning his prospective students against sleeping in his lectures.

Fils-Aimé joined Nintendo at the end of 2003 and swiftly became the president and chief exec of Nintendo of America just three years later. He became infamous as the Western figurehead of the company and a superb speaker and comedian during E3 shows and Nintendo Directs.
He seemed connected to the video game community he was running, once even challenging Hungrybox, a pro Super Smash Bros player to a grudge match live on stage. It actually later happened too.
After his retirement from Nintendo, he was replaced by a man called Doug Bowser.
His first lecture description can be viewed here and is open to the public.
