What’s on the card for Abu Dhabi Showdown Week?
Two weeks of parties, food deals, concerts, shopping activations and fitness are kicking off the lead-up to one of the biggest sporting events of the year, as Abu Dhabi gears up to host UFC 242 on Saturday, September 7.
Abu Dhabi Showdown Week is set to take over the capital from September 1 to 7, but kicking off a week earlier, from Sunday August 25, the emirate’s restaurants and bars will be taking part in Knockout Burgers and Knockout Meal Deal promotions.
Venues across the city will be serving up dining offers and limited-edition burger deals, including on Appaloosa’s 30cm-tall Burj Khalifa Burger, and Hamilton’s Gastropub’s Flaming Burger, flambéed tableside.
There’s a whole load of exciting activities around the UAE capital as the city gears up towards the big fight night, where Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on challenger Dustin Poirier in the headline bout, including the official UFC Open Workout at Yas Mall on September 4 from 4pm to 6pm, which is free to attend.
Events around the city include Red Hot Chili Peppers and J Balvin concerts, strongman shows and group fitness sessions, and parties at some of the city’s most glamourous nightspots.
Expect pool parties at Saadiyat Beach Club and Aloft Abu Dhabi, a UFC-themed bash at ANNEX and super club takeovers at MAD on Yas Island and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.
Also under the Showdown Week banner is the Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo from September 5 to 7, with four-time Mr Olympia Jay Cutler and Mr Universe Mike O’Hearn both set to make an appearance, plus fitness classes and workouts taking place around the capital.
And keep an eye out for guest UFC athletes doing meet-and-greets in Abu Dhabi’s favourite malls.
