Jay Z wears a US$200,000 Audemars Piguet as he strikes a deal with NFL
There's no other way of putting it, Jay Z is the richest rapper of all time, rocking a net worth well over US $1 billion. Unsurprising then, that he wears some of the most expensive watches in the world.
Thanks to an incredibly successful musical career, as well as being incredibly business-savy, Jay Z is the richest rapper on the planet. In a continuous mission to further reinforce this title, the star has recently held talks with the NFL about further business opportunities.
Where most people would turn up to a multi-million dollar like this in their sharpest suit, Jay Z turns up in a sports snapback and black t-shirt. Where he reminds us he's a serious business man is with what's on his wrist.
On his wrist is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Carbon watch. These are watches that can go for anything from US $100,000 all the way to US $200,000 if not beyond.
The Concept Carbon is a serious watch, clocking in at 44mm wide and 16mm thick, it's a chunky watch and thus a great showcase of how far horology can be pushed.
It's 'forged' out of carbon, with a ceramic bezel and some titanium thrown into the screws for that added shine and touch of masculinity. The watch, which would be fit for Bruce Wayne, is all black and sports a tourbillon function, a power reserve indicator and a function selection indicator.
Tourbillons stand at the top of functions in watchmaking, being one of the most complex things you can craft into a timepiece. Originally made to regulate the movement of a pocketwatch no matter the gravitational forces, they're often put in wristwatches to simply indulge in the art.
Jay Z's watch is entirely skeletonised, meaning the amazing in-house movement can be admired whenever he wants.
His deal with the NFL will have his entertainment company, Roc Nation help in advising on selecting artists to perform at major NFL performances such as the Super Bowl
