Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, were all set to woo the South Asian country on Pakistan on their recently announced press trip. But now, much to the dismay of their CommonWealth fans, their trip is most likely to get cancelled.
The royals had planned a trip to Pakistan upon the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. however due to tensions in the region, the trip might get cancelled.
According to reports released by Britain’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the trip might be cancelled due to tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad which have been ongoing since the beginning of August. The trip was supposed to take place at the end of the year.
The last members of the British Royal family to visit Pakistan were Prince Charles and Camilla back in 2006, Princess Diana in 1991, and Queen Elizabeth II in 1961 and 1997 .
Prince William and Kate Middleton would’ve been the first members of the British Royal Family to visit Pakistan since Prince Charles and Camila’s visit.
Though the trip was planned to take place at the end of the year, according to The News International, the region's turn of events make the British Royal's trip to Pakistan unlikely.
