The Dubai dino is looking for a new home and it could be yours for Dhs14.6 million
The Diplodocus skeleton that has graced the halls of the Dubai Mall since 2014 is sadly up for auction. 'Dubai dino' as it's fondly called is being auctioned online with bids starting at just under US $4million.
The massive structure that's a popular attraction in the mall measures almost 24.4 metre-long by 7 metre-high skeleton, and dates back to the Jurassic period, will be offered at a starting value of Dhs14.6 million.
According to Emirates Auction, the bidding will end August 25. Nearly 90 percent of the bones are original, the statement added.
The remains of the adult dinosaur were discovered in a sleeping position in 2008 at the Dana Quarry in the US state of Wyoming.
No word yet on where the Dubai dino will move but it was previously displayed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in the US state of Texas.
According to Arabian Business, it was sourced through Khalid Seddiq, founder of Etihad Modern Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi, and was put on permanent display at The Dubai Mall in 2014.
