Marriott has a secret loyalty programme only for super-important travellers
There are some things that are just unattainable in life for the regular mortal, Emirates' Skywards loyalty programme's Platinum level and Marriott's super secret boss level in their loyalty programme that nobody's ever heard of.
It's apparently the hotel operator's 'best kept secret' and while many have written about this secret level, Marriott has so far refused to ever admit it exists.
According to ThePointsGuy, "The Cobalt Program is an unpublished level of elite status that is only available through invitation from Marriott International’s President and CEO."
SOunds likesomething for you? Well you need to be either best friend's with Marriott's CEO Arne Sorenson or somewhat on his radar as it requires his explicit approval for you to be deemed worthy of Cobalt.
Now, Marriott Bonvoy is the new combined loyalty programme that integrates Ritz-Carlton Rewards, Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest and has the existing tiers of Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium. Cobalt sits somewhere above Titantium level.
So what exactly do these super secret members get? Well, it's a long list.
According to ThePointsGuy, Cobalt level guests will get personalised welcome amenities and suite upgrades. At Edition hotels, Cobalt diners can get a VIP table assignment in the restaurant or bar. At St. Regis, members are invited to “ritual moments”. The benefits vary by brand, but include things like club lounge access at the Ritz-Carlton properties with a personal welcome note from the general manager.
It's safe to say that you have to be someone pretty special to make the cut for Cobalt.
