J.D. Salinger novels are finally available as e-books
Starting this week, four novels by J.D. Salinger are available as e-books, through the American author’s longtime publisher Little Brown and Company.
The announcement was made by Matt Salinger, J.D.’s son.
Starting today, Cather in the Rye, Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymor: An Introduction are all available as e-books (via the publisher’s website).
J.D. Salinger was notoriously averse to technology. But it wasn’t until a disabled fan who was not able to read printed novels reached out to Matt Salinger – who oversees his father’s literary trust – that things began to change.
"[My father] was leery of many things, but he had a profound love for his readers. He wouldn't want people to not be able to read his stuff," Matt Salinger told the New York Times.
In addition to the e-books, Matt Salinger has said he will release unpublished material from his father’s archives over the next five years.
