PUBG updates map before Fortnite world cup begins
The map that helped propel Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds – Erangel – has been given a major overhaul ahead of its season 4.
The update comes just before its biggest rival in the Battle Royale genre – Fortnite – hosts its World Cup.
The map changes follow a storyline introduced in the previous week’s cinematic trailer and includes a new look for the original island arena Erangel. Six locations have been adjusted; the disused military base radar array is now damaged, two coastal hillsides now feature fortified positions, and the power plan has been remodelled.
The fourth season also hints towards a new direction for future updates – including new gameplay features and official challenges. Gamers can also expect separate missions and rewards for those that purchase the PUBG Battle Pass.
The Evangel update is now available on PCs and is due to hit PlayStation and Xbox One later this summer.
PUBG’s update has come on the eve of the Fortnite World Cup Finals. They kick off in New York City tomorrow, July 26.
