Jennifer Lopez loves this Lebanese designer – here’s why
Ahead of bringing her world tour, It’s My Party, to Egypt on August 9, Jennifer Lopez sat down with event organizers to discuss, among other things, her favourite Arab designer.
Speaker to Venture Lifestyle, she said that Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad is her all-time favourite. The fashion house shared a clip of the conversation last night.
According to Lopez, “I love Zuhair, he’s probably my favourite.”
“I discovered him years ago when I was doing a show somewhere. I was doing a show and I was so jetlagged and I was up in the middle of the night watching Fashion TV, which they had in this country I was in, and he had this beautiful show and I was like, ‘Who is this guy?’”
But after discovering him, tracking him down was another challenge.
“I came back (to the US) and I said, ‘Do you guys know Zuhair Murad?’ and nobody knew who he was, none of the stylists, nobody in the United States knew who he was. I was like, ‘You have to get me this dress for the Met Ball.”
Her stylists evidently succeeded, and in 2010 wore a show stopping gown to fashion’s biggest party.
“I wore his dress to the Met Ball and after that, I just started using him for everything — he designed my last tour — we just have a great relationship. He’s a beautiful man, a beautiful designer,”
Murad isn’t the only Arab designer who has caught the popstar’s eye over the years.
At the first date on her World Tour Start, J.Lo stepped out on stage wearing a number of the region’s biggest designers, including Nicolas Jebran, Elie Saab and Rami Kadi.
