50 Cent will headline Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah World Fest
50 Cent has confirmed his attendance at Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Music Fest. He will play alongside Janet Jackson, Liam Payne and American DJ Steve Aoki.
The festival kicks off today, in the Red Sea city of western Saui Arabia.
Jeddah World Fest has been marred with negative publicity, since it originally signed Nicki Minaj as a headliner. She cancelled the show in solidarity for women’s and gay rights. The announcement of her performance prompted internet backlash.
Minaj has said on Twitter that her decision was not about ‘disrespecting’ the Saudi government.
Saudi Arabia is pushing entertainment for its citizens, in a bid to attract tourism to the kingdom. The country’s General Entertainment Authority said it plans to pump $64-billion in to the market over the next ten years.
