UAE is one of the top ten places to live and work
The UAE has moved up to 9th place in HSBC’s annual survey of expat workforces.
Regionally, the UAE retained its top position as the best lace to live and work, but was moved up a rank by a strong vote of confidence by millennials who say they earn almost 50 per cent more here, than in their home country.
The survey also revealed that the UAE was the best place to live and work globally by professionals looking for career progression, financial security and a good place to raise a family.
According to the survey, those who move to the UAE say they feel saver (83 per cent) and more secure in the UAE, than over their home country.
The survey also states that most expats who move to Dubai are looking to stay in the UAE for more than 5-10+ years (46 per cent).
Of those who took part in the survey, under 35-year-olds confirmed they made 51 per cent higher salaries in the UAE than in their home country. Young professionals in particular are the main driver of the UAE’s ranking on a global scale.
"The UAE's rise to the 9th best place to live and work is a great recognition of the economic diversification and world-class infrastructure the country offers. While earning potential and career growth is what brings people here, it's the improved quality of life and safe environment that keeps them here for good, according to the survey," said Marwan Hadi, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC UAE.
Globally, Switzerland was rated the best place to live and work, followed by Singapore, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, Germany, the UAE and Vietnam.
