LG introduces all-screen G8S with touchless interface
LG has pulled the wraps off its new high-end G8s smartphone. While not quite as smart as the previously announced G8, it packs “a more bespoke experience”.
The major differences here are the size of the screen. The G8S measures 6.2-inches (while the G8 is just 6.1-inches). It also drops one camera sensor (just two instead of three).
But other than that, it’s the same flagship smartphone complete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM under the hood. It also comes with 128GB of internal storage, along with water and dust resistance.
The G8S camera is the real star of the smartphone show, however. Dubbed the ‘Z Camera’ it makes use of ‘Flight Time’ technology, which lets you interact with the phone via gesture.
Dubbed air motion, the front-facing camera can monitor motion and depth, letting users swipe through the air above the phone to control the interface.
In reality, that means you will be able to answer a call, take a photo or adjust the phone’s volume with a few simple movements (instead of pushing boring old buttons).
LG is currently keeping the new G8S price tag close to its chest, but we reckon it will come in slightly less than its older brother (which currently goes for around AED3,100).
