Fortnite declares war on Prince Harry
Fortnite has hit back at Prince Harry after the royal criticised the game as being 'created to addict'.
The Prince was commenting on recent allegations that the game was rife with safety concerns, from its addictiveness with teenagers to its use by online predators to target children.
After the statement, bosses from developer Epic Games hit back at the Prince’s comments saying they were a ‘mischaracterisation’ of the game.
Last April, Prince Harry said, “Fortnite shouldn’t be allowed”.
“It’s created to addict – an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It’s so irresponsible.”
The Palace has yet to confirm Prince Harry’s K:D ratio, and it’s thought that Prince Harry didn’t even participate in the game’s Battle Pass for Season 9.
Fortnite creators Epic Games admitted they were shocked to hear Prince Harry was not a fan. The developer’s lawyer admitted that “We were quite taken aback at Epic, really rather surprised. The statements... couldn’t be further from the truth in our intentions and design philosophy.”
Last year Epic Games were rumoured to have made more than US$2.3-million (AED 8.4-million) on the free-to-play game.
