The choice makes up part of the push from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, which seeks to make the UAE capital the hottest shopping and tourism spot
Tax reliefs and discounts of up to 90% are also up for grabs
If you’re not flying out the emirates for Eid, we have some great news for you. Two malls in Abu Dhabi have promised to keep its doors open for 24 hours a day during Eid, starting June 5.
The 24-hour Eid sale is part of the initiative of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, which seeks to push the capital city as a hub for shopping and tourism, hoping to outdo malls like Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall and Festival City Mall all in Dubai.
Yas Mall will offer tax-free shopping to any purchases made over AED 1,000. Spending this amount will give you VAT refunds.
Dalma Mall has promised that some of its retailers will cut prices by up to 90%, with this promise applying to clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery, perfumes, homeware, toiletries, accessories, electronic goods and items at the local pharmacy.
Statistically speaking, Ramadan and the Eid holidays stand as the most popular times for shopping. In a 2016 study by Souqalmal, more than half (51%) of the respondents polled in the UAE said they spend more than usual during Ramadan, with 78% of people exceeding their own shopping budgets during the month.
More than a third spend an excess of AED 1,000 to AED 3,000, along with 16% of those polled spending more than this.
