- A proper wedding ceremony is expected to follow but it is not known if this will be a private or public affair
Our favourite crown prince Sheikh Hamdan secretly got married last week. It has now been confirmed that the wedding ceremony of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and two of his brothers will take place during the Eid holidays.
A photo taken of the wedding invitation revealed that the men's wedding reception will take place on Thursday, June 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 4pm.
On May 15, the Dubai Media Office confirmed that 36-year-old Sheikh Hamdan was married to Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai married Sheikha Mariam bint Butti Al Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammed married Sheikha Midya bint Dalmouj Al Maktoum.
On the wedding invitation, the name of Sheikh Mohammad was written at the top of the card inviting guests to attend the wedding reception.
The inscription reads: “On the occasion of the matrimony of the sons of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamdan, Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed.”
As part of the invitation, guests were treated to a gift of Omani halwa, a traditional Gulf sweet made of wheat starch, sugar, water, ghee, saffron, cardamom and nuts.
It’s not yet known whether or not it will be a public or a private ceremony.
The wedding comes after a big six months for Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan. Last year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge (which happens each November) was heralded as a huge success, and earlier this year he welcomed the UAE’s first astronauts – who will travel to the International Space station in 2021) to his offices in Dubai. He even got a hollogram, to do a speach at the World Government Summit in February. And an exclusive look at the Samsung Galaxy Fold last month.
