- The series consists of eight short episodes, exploring the unique flora and fauna in Sharjah
- The programme airs on National Geographic Abu Dhabi this week
- It will also feature the ecological importance of the Ghaff tree – the symbol of the ‘Year of Tolerance’
Dubai's often overlooked neighbour Sharjah is all set to star in its very own nature documentary on National Geographic Abu Dhabi. The series consists of eight short episodes, exploring the unique flora and fauna in Sharjah.
The series will look at all things wildlife from turtles and crabs, along with the the Ghaff tree – the symbol of the ‘Year of Tolerance’ and the Arabian Oryx.
It will showcase locations from the Wasit Wetland to the Al Hefaiyah Mountain. The series will also focus on the Wasit Nature Reserve, home to 198 different species of birds and several small mammals and insects.
The series is being produced in partnership with Sharjah Government Media Bureau and Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and will air on National Geography Abu Dhabi from May 21.
