Shoe lovers take note: get your fix at Esquire Townhouse
The world of footwear is in flux. Sneakers are “so hot right now”, which in fashion speak means that there’s a new pair of skater punk meet designer collaboration shoes dropping every other day.
But let’s be honest. Does your 40-year-old man self really want to be lining up outside the closest grungy boutique alongside the rest of the 16-year-olds (who only want a pair to stick up on Instagram and then flog the second they receive “all the likes”)? No. You don’t.
That’s why we’ve gone with a proper Italian shoemaker for this year’s Esquire Townhouse, one that has more than 70-years of heritage under its belt (and where drops are unfortunate events, not a marketing strategy).
Moreschi is a company rich in heritage, one which was started way back in 1946. In 2016, it went through a global refurbishment that saw it go back to its Italian routes, and in doing so, brought the Italian shoe stalwart bang up to date. Today, it is known for making some of the most stylish but hardwearing shoes in the world, and – due to the brand’s reliance on classic elegance – its products never go out of style.
But don’t take our word for it. Francesco Moreschi is one of the grandsons of Mario Moreschi, the eponymous founder of the brand. Not only does Francesco help run the company (he looks after marketing and communications, while his brother Mario is in charge of the production process) but remembers growing up around it. And that’s why he’ll be coming along to this year’s Esquire Townhouse.
Francesco Moreschi will be chairing a panel at The Townhouse, where he will broach “The Modern Challenges of a Heritage Brand”. You can watch that live on our Facebook Page on Wednesday, November 7th at 3:00 pm.
Not only that, but we also convinced one of Moreschi’s expert craftsmen to come out to Dubai and visit the Townhouse. He will be giving guests an inside look at what goes into the creation of each pair of Moreschi shoes, as well as doing a masterclass on the expertise that goes into the colouring of each piece of footwear.
Can’t make it down to this year’s Townhouse event? You’ll be able to follow along with all that and more via our social media channels.
