Check out Aston Martin’s first ever aircraft concept
Making your Aston Martin fly through the clouds usually ends badly. But this three-person flying vehicle puts the brand’s stylish aesthetics in the skies.
The biennial Farnborough International Airshow kicked off outside London yesterday, and apart from showing the world some ridiculous air displays – courtesy of the likes of The Royal Airforce and the Red Arrows – it also provided the first-ever glimpse of Aston Martin’s flying car concept.
The Aston Martin Volante Vision Concept is a look into the future of urban transportation, one where you won’t park your flying car; it will drop you off and then fly home without you.
“With the population in urban areas continuing to grow, congestion in towns and cities will become increasingly demanding. We need to look at alternative solutions to reduce congestion, cut pollution and improve mobility” says Dr Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, speaking from the unveiling.
“The Volante Vision Concept is the ultimate luxury mobility solution”.
The aircraft has room enough for three adults, and will be flown completely autonomously. And while Aston Martin makes one heck of a car engine, it drafted in help from Rolls-Royce and its hybrid-electric jet propulsion system to power the Vision.
While this isn’t the first flying car concept to come out of a car marquis in the last couple of years, it certainly is the coolest.
