Childish Gambino just released two songs of the summer
This year has belonged to Donald Glover.
After the stunning second season of Atlanta, his saving grace performance as Lando Calrissian in Solo, and his earth shattering "This Is America" video, he's returned with two sunny jams that are sure to top every song of the summer playlist.
Both appear on streaming services under the title Summer Pack.
"Feels Like Summer" is light and airy, with wooing vocals, while "Summertime Magic" is more of a pulsing club romance, perfect for a seasonal fling. They're excellent compliments to each other—an ideal soundtrack to the second half of this summer. Following the politically charged "This Is America," these songs show the incredible range of Childish Gambino music, which can be anything from powerful hip-hop to escapism R&B.
Along with these two tracks and "This Is America," Glover also performed a song called "Saturday" on his episode of SNL. He's touring this fall with Rae Sremmurd and Vince Staples, where he's expected to debut his final music as Childish Gambino.
“I’m really appreciative of this [award] and I’m making another project right now, just, you know, to make,” he told Variety after receiving the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. “But I like endings and I think they’re important to progress. I think like, if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. So I think endings are good because they force things to get better.”
