Who will Keri Russell play in Star Wars Episode 9?
Star Wars fans feel an intense ownership over the sci-fi franchise.
If they believe Luke Skywalker should have been young and hot and starry-eyed in The Last Jedi, then Rian Johnson should have delivered. Heck, they think they can make a better movie, complete with sexier stars and long monologues about where Snoke came from and what his plans were.
Here we are one year and five months away from the release of Star Wars IX, and fans are already freaking out about the few details we have.
We know it will be directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, we know fans will bitch about it incessantly, and we know it'll star Keri Russell as a new character. That's it!
But this latest news about the casting of Russell in a role that calls for "action-heavy fight scenes" has fans freaking out over the future of Star Wars.

Over on Reddit, fans are hotly debating who Russell might play. The most obvious theory is that she'll be Rey's mother (because all brown-haired women must be related), which already has fans divided. Some think it's a great idea. And other's definitely do not.
Another intriguing theory is that she could be one of the Knights of Ren, or "a dark side organization that operated under the command of Supreme Leader Snoke in the years following the destruction of the Sith," according to the Star Wars wiki.
These are a group of students that escaped with Ren after his destruction of Luke Skywalker's Jedi school. That could be fun!
Just for fun, here's another ridiculous theory: Russell is playing Rey in the future because Star Wars IX will take place after a 20-year time jump.
Anyway, it's probably all of these or none of these. We won't know for 529 days.
