Justin Theroux proves the power of a topcoat
Justin Theroux is no stranger to good style.
He looks good doing just about everything he does—including riding a bike in a military/kimono jacket hybrid.
So when he gets back to basics like he did last night for the New York premiere of John Krasinski's new movie A Quiet Place, you know it's not just a matter of playing it safe.
It's because he knows how damn powerful the essential elements of a man's wardrobe can be when they're worn in the right way.
There actually isn't all that much going on here. Just a black topcoat, black crewneck sweater, boots (black, naturally), and a pair of gray jeans with rips at the knees that would likely qualify as the most ostentatious part of the outfit. ("Ostentatious" being a very relative term, here.)
But it all works exceptionally well. First off, because everything is perfectly fitted to Theroux's frame. And secondly, because a good topcoat and a polished pair of boots can pull pretty much any outfit together—especially one this streamlined.
Next time you're stepping out to support your friend's movie—or, you know, just heading to dinner—take a page from Theroux's playbook and keep it simple.
