Three of the best new smartwatches of 2018
Smartwatches are at a turning point.
Thanks to the Apple Watch, wearing a slice of tech on your wrist is no longer reserved to pocket-protecting geeks and the Illuminati of the tech world.
Now, even mainstream watch brands are taking the smartwatch seriously, with the likes of Hublot, TAG Heuer and Montblanc leading the fray. That said, it’s still the technology companies that produce the best wrist-worthy tech, which should come as no surprise (for now).
Here’s three of our favourite smartwatches of 2018 (along with what type of person they’d best suit):
Best for… Getting in Shape
With Fitbit already the king of fitness trackers, its smartwatch has a boat-load of health-based features right out of the box. You get built-in GPS, heart-rate and sleep monitors, and you can take it swimming. It will also last up to four days before needing a charge, and, importantly, it’s handsome enough to be worn all day (not many fitness watches can say the same).
Best for… A little bit of everything
Apple Watch Series 3
Apple’s third iteration comes with a new dual core processor that makes it 70 percent zippier than before. It also has new battery smarts allowing it to last up to 18-hours before needing a top up. New GymKit technology makes this a capable fitness tracker, while the smooth lines of the sultry design make it both indiscriminate and eye-catching at the same time. Oh, and it has proper apps too.
Best for… Making a Statement
Michael Kors Grayson Smartwatch
With its name mirroring Michael Kors’ analogue watch collection, the key selling point is the design. The Grayson runs Google’s Android Wear and comes in a variety of colours and strap options to match your personal style.
