Roger Dubuis – co-founder of the extraordinary brand – has passed away
Roger Dubuis has announced that its co-founder – Mr Roger Dubuis – has passed away at the age of 80.
According to a company statement: " Roger Dubuis, our company founder, has passed away today at the age of 80. His renowned expertise in Haute Horlogerie, his disruptive vision, his human values will remain close to our heart. We are all committed to keeping his unique spirit within our brand. Roger’s passing is a grievous loss for all of us and the entire watch community. Our sympathies are with his family and close relatives."
Roger Dubuis, the company, was founded by the eponymous man and designer Carlos Dias in 1995. It produced its first two collections, Sympathie and Hommage, in 1996. The brand was immediately recognisable, both for its distinctive designs and fine movement finishing, which made each Roger Dubuis timepiece more art than watch.
In 2004, Mr Roger Dubuis announced his retirement, and later in 2008, the company became part of the Richemont Group. In 2011, Mr Roger Dubuis came out of retirement to once again assume an active role at the manufacture.
The company – which recently announced a partnership with Lamborghini – continues under the leadership of its CEO, Mr Jean-Marc Pontroué.
