Review: Folly by Nick and Scott
In a city full of international franchise outposts and restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs in name only, it would be an understatement to say Dubai lacks chef-led restaurants. Refreshingly, Folly by Nick and Scott is bucking that trend, with the two names on the sign actually resident in the kitchen.
Transforming the space that once was Rivington Grill into a warm and inviting venue, Folly feels a world away from Madinat Jumeirah's souvenir-filled corridors. Folly serves up the best of both worlds, with the interior evoking a hip London eatery and the outdoor terraces providing some of the best views in Dubai. Dine at the bar while watching the action in the kitchen, or sip a sundowner taking in the elevated Palm Jumeriah views (or perhaps the iconic Burj al Arab, if that's more your thing).
Folly's unique menu consists of plates of varying sizes (and price points) enabling you to craft a bespoke tasting menu, sharing selection or a traditional three course menu depending on how you like to dine. Just don't expect Yorkshire puds, roast or mushy peas here - the lads use their many years of Gordon Ramsay-trainned, fine-dining experience to craft refined interpretations of British flavours that impress both on the plate and the palate.
Don't miss the Fried bread, sage, onion and spelt, Artichokes and truffles and for a perfect finish to the meal, the Basil and strawberry meringue. If you're just popping in for a cocktail, don't overlook the bar menu - these aren't your regular bar snacks. Their Snack Box includes some rather refined additions such as Black truffle cheese puffs and Lobster crackers.
Whichever spot you choose to dine or imbibe in, the service, food and drinks are top notch. From the carefully crafted cocktail list (think quintessentially British with an artisanal twist) to the creative menu comprising a wide range of enticing plates, Folly is delivering something that's hard to find in Dubai. Add to to that personable and attentive service and you have a combination that's sure to bring you back more than once.
