Pokras Lampas x Fendi
Intending to represent the dawn of a new global era in fashion and art – Fendi’s latest 'F is for’ campaign claims to combine both originality and tradition in an attempt to engage with today’s young, hip, millennials. If you don’t “get it”, you’re probably too old. And that’s exactly the point that Fendi are trying to make. Which is why Pokras Lampas, who just so happens to be exclusively represented in the Middle East by Opera Gallery Dubai, has recently collaborated with Fendi as part of this project.
As one of the most well-known modern calligraphy artists in the world (he’s got over 130,000 followers on Instagram), Pokras has been making his mark (quite literally) all across the globe as he has continued to push the boundaries of calligraphy further than anybody ever has before.
Pokras’ “calligraffiti” – a sort of Post-Modern lovechild between graffiti and calligraphy – has even made a splash in his notoriously conservative homeland of Russia, with a piece he did on a rooftop in Moscow having recently set the World Record as the largest calligraphy artwork on the planet.
As part of this latest collaboration with Fendi, Pokras’ innovative and signature “calligraffiti” can now be found on the iconic rooftop of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome. As Italy’s largest ever calligraphy work – the installation took place over two days and covers an impressive area of 1,270 square metres – Pokras’ latest is the perfect statement for Fendi’s ‘F is for’ campaign and is guaranteed to rile up more than one antiquated art historian.
If you fancy checking out any of Pokras Lampas’ work for yourself, all his latest artworks can be found exclusively in the Opera Gallery Dubai. Just leave your pretensions at the door.
