Best Dressed 2017 - Khatch Mikaelian
The late Hardy Amies said it best when he declared: “A man should look as if he has bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them.” Beyond this guiding principle, the formula for a stylish man is harder to pinpoint. So for 2017's selection of the Esquire's Best Dressed Men in the Gulf, we’ve looked at men who wear their clothes with a sense of individuality, confidence and consideration.
“I like expressing aspects of my personality right off the bat with my appearance. My goal, however, is not to look ‘fashionable’, but rather ‘well put together’.”
He adds that, “I look for ways to keep my style relevant and not outdated. I like new ways of wearing timeless classics.”
Mikaelian is MD of Kalian Branding, which he launched in 2009. The boutique design consultancy focuses on creating brand experiences and commercially effective design solutions, so his mind is always switched on to the creative ways that brands communicate. His style demonstrates this but with a clean, linear approach. “If I could only wear one thing for the rest of my life it would be the perfect black T-shirt, blue jeans, and my Cartier Santos 100 watch. Every day and everywhere.”
Although he loves to call Dubai home, Mikaelian sees himself becoming a global citizen in the next few years. “I’d like to take in all that the world has to offer. My aim is to work on branding projects in different countries and learn about new cultures along the way. Nothing accelerates personal growth faster and more effectively.”
