UAE launches 'open water' race series
With the mercury finally deciding to dip to levels that are suitable for humans, a brand new open water swimming series gets set to launch across the UAE.
Already a huge success in the US, the American race series, City Swim, looks set to become one of the most appealing outdoor sporting events on the UAE calendar.
Taking place across the waters of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, more than two hundred contestants will competing for medals in the various competitions, ranging from 250m all the way to 2.5km. The debut race will take place in the heart of Dubai, at the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort on October 8.
The race will be open to all ages over five and all skill levels. So whether you've just graduated from your water wings, or are a Michael Phelps in waiting, don’t forget to mark it on your calendar.
For those wanting to take the Dubai race a little more seriously, race participants can take advantage of a special room package at the Sheraton resort as well as post-race celebrations for all the participants, friends and family. If you worried about being out in the open water, a team of trained professionals will be surveying the waters, ready to react in the event of an emergency.
