Where to watch: Euro 2016

Watching football should be social. Here's where to go
Euro cup 2016
Nezesaussi Grill - Its antipodean-rugby-leaning tendencies aside, there’s no doubting that Nezesaussi is a sports bar geared for watching events live with a good group of mates. Giant screens, special deals and staff that are more than capable of top-class service during big-matches make this bar as sure a bet as England losing on penalties. Barasti - The Dubai stalwart is on most people’s autopilot when it comes to any serious sporting viewing throughout the year, and the Euros is no different. With its enormous air-conned marquee covering its upper level, the temperature is downright pleasant and you’ll likely find supporters flocking there in their droves. Velocity - During the regular season, the JW Marriott Marquis’ sports bar plays host to the Arsenal UAE supporters club, therefore it’s fair to say that they know how to host a big-match football crowd. Now add in a menu of classic bar snacks and you’re onto a good thing, because remember: sports and chicken wings go together like Cristiano Ronaldo and overweening narcissism. The Sportsman’s Arms (Abu Dhabi) - With Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland joining England (sorry, Scotland) at this year’s tournament there is expected to be increased interest from Abu Dhabi expats. From June 10 to July 10, the International Tennis Centre’s sports bar will be showing every game, with special deals on buckets and exceedingly cheesy pizzas. Emirates Golf Club - You can pretty much guarantee that whenever a big football tournament comes around, the Emirates Golf Club will put together a high-quality setup. This year, its huge ‘Football Central’ area is equipped with 22 screens, two massive projectors, multiple bars, food deals, corporate packages and even an outdoor area with shisha and beanbags (if that’s your thing). There is also games for children including giant Jenga, floor Foosball and ongoing competitions throughout the tournament. Normally, it is a stronghold for Dutch fans, but with The Netherlands having failed to qualify for the tournament, it’s all up for grabs.
