Surf’s up at Joe & Sons
If you're looking for something to do on August 26 that's not too far out, dude - you could do worse than heading down to Joe & Sons at Al Quoz for the Middle Eastern premiere of surfing documentary The South to Sian Journals.
A film by Dustin Humphrey, this behind-the-scenes film chronicles the wipeouts, waves, and generally wild times experienced by surfers Harrison Roach and Zye Norris as they embarked on a monumental journey in a 1970s Land Rover.
Travelling from the southernmost point of Bali all the up to the nation's north, this two-year journey resulted in the creation of the award-winning 'South to Sian'. What The South to Sian Journals provides is an insight into the Australian and Indonesian surfers, riders, shapers, bike builders, film makers and photographers who all took part in this extreme expedition and made this film possible.
Showing from 7pm with absolutely zero admission fee, this über cool pop-up cinema, decked out with literal beach deck chairs, seems like the ideal way to watch a bunch of surfers lark about lovely landscapes.
In terms of surf sustenance, the award-winning Mexican kitchen at Joe & Son's will also be providing you with as much food as you can handle in the form of unlimited tacos. Come for the film. Stay for the tacos.
