Wait, Rugby can look stylish too?
Rugby is a real man’s man sport, but there is something rather childish about walking around wearing a rugby top anywhere but at the Dubai 7s. Thankfully, there is an alternative that is fully suitable for grown-ups: Eden Park.
Named after the stadium in New Zealand that hosted the inaugural Rugby World Cup final in 1987, the French clothing store specialises in smart off-field wear for rugby fans.
It helps, of course, that the founder of Eden Park, Franck Mesnel, is both a former French international and sharp-dresser. During his trophy-laden career for Racing Club de France, the mercurial centre would earn the name "showbiz" along with his teammates who would often involve in amusing style-led gimmicks.
During one game, the Racing Club team were served their half-time drinks from champagne glasses served by butlers. Another time, the team's Back Row played an entire match while wearing pink bow ties - the pink bow tie now serves as as the logo for the Eden Park brand.
Since starting in the 1990s, the reputation of Eden Park has grown such that they now are the official clothing company of the French, English, Irish and Italian rugby teams.
Aside from when your side's playing, Esquire believes that there are very few other circumstances when you should wear a sports kit - so we recommend checking out the Eden Park outlet in City Walk, Jumeirah, as a way to harness your love for the sport, while adding a little bit of "showbiz". Open daily 10am-10pm.
