Tiger Woods to play at the Dubai Desert Classic 2017
Last December Tiger Woods returned to competitive golf after 15 months, at the Hero World Challenge, a tournament hosted by himself. The highly anticipated reappearance was possibly the most judged Tiger would have ever felt on a golf course and it ultimately resulted in a scrambled head. Tiger showed promising signs of his old form, however let it slip in the closing days, finish 15th out of an 18-player starting field. Fear not, Tiger Woods, one of the best of all time, full of previous success wasn’t going to step back for another ‘break’ after that.
On announcing late December that he will play three PGA Tour events in the months of January/February Tiger fans sure were happy. However it gets better. Tiger recently confirmed that he will be returning to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, from the 2-5th of February, where he will be making his eight appearance. It sure seems like Tiger’s new hobby is surprising the media and his fans but as it stands he will now be playing four tournaments across January and February, a fairly significant step up from the side-line and one tournament in 15 months due to a back injury.
Woods will not only be returning in hope for an appearance fee but in hope for a solid result, he has previously had some serious success on the Majilis course. 2 wins, tied 2nd, tied 3rd and tied 5th. Let’s hope some Deja vu kicks in on the first tee and results in some vintage Tiger form. The Omega Dubai Desert Classic will also see the likes of 4 time major champion Rory Mcilroy, Open champion Henrik Stenson and last years Masters champion Danny Willett.
