The one Dubai Instagram account you NEED to follow
In Dubai a new restaurant wades into the city's cut-throat dining scene on a seemingly weekly basis. It's the kind of place that if you go away for a week, you'll come back to all your friends humble-bragging about their dinner at the latest restaurant that has an industry-altering, earth-shattering, concept based around the fusion of two "delectable" cuisines that really have no right being mentioned in the same breath: Nordic-Sudanese starters, anyone?
Thanks to the calibre of the competition, the overal standard of the Dubai's restaurants is high, but with each new opening comes a slew of reviews showering the venue with the highest of praise often for offering its guests a clever combination of starter, mains and - you guessed it! - desserts; or the cool, intricate 'vibe' of its bar/lounge/bistro/terrace.
It's because of tired, cliched restaurant 'reviews' that has drawn us to a Dubai-based Instagram account that solely focuses on an element that everyone is interested in but refuses to admit: the toilets.
The helpfully named Dubai Loo Review is an anonymously updated page that rates Dubai's restaurants on the basis of their toilets.
While not the most popular of accounts (only 40 followers!), its witty remarks, tounge-in-cheek hashtag (#myloobai) and keen observations give an amusing and - ahem - refreshing twist to the usual Dubai restaurant review.
From what we can deduce, the rating system is out of 5, but has catagories that are loosely related to the theme of the restaurant. For example the famed French restaurant Le Petit Maison, is ranked 5/5 Frog's Legs.
To be honest, we have no idea why the account was set up, who runs it or even - due to its sporadic updates - how long it will be around for, but one thing is for sure, the Dubai Loo Review is certainly an instagram account that you should be following.
